A 42-year-old off-duty police officer is being praised as a hero after she shot an armed robber who had threatened a group of women and children. Katia da Silva Sastre was standing outside of a private school in Sao Paulo, Brazil waiting for it to open for a Mother's Day event when 21-year-old Elivelton Neves Moreira approached with his gun drawn. As he grabbed a security guard and demanded his wallet and phone, Sastre pulled her gun from her purse and shot him three times in the chest.
This was CRAZY! Good thing for her his gun jammed.
Also...the car pulling away almost hits as she bends down to get the gun!
Sao Paulo Governor Marcio Franca honored Sastre at her police station, presenting her with a purple orchid.
“I didn't know if he was going to shoot the kids or the mothers or the security guard at the school door,” she said. “I just thought about defending the moms, the children, my own life and my daughter's.”
What's interesting is the first time I saw this video was on my Twitter timeline with now story behind it....just the video with a generic line or two about why we should all carry guns. It puts the entire sequence into perspective as to who this woman is....and why she was so brave. SHE'S A COP!
