Tyler Hubbard said “it’s been a really fun season of healing,” with his Florida Georgia Line duo partner, Brian Kelley.

Hubbard and Kelley launched their careers as duo Florida Georgia Line with a debut record that arrived in 2012. They became known for “Cruise,” “This Is How We Roll,” “May We All,” “H.O.L.Y.,” “Get Your Shine On” and many other hit singles. They announced that they were “taking a break” as a duo to pursue solo projects in February 2022, and played their final show as Florida Georgia Line in August of that year. Since then, Hubbard, Kelley and their wives have shared photos with one another on social media, stirring excitement among fans and leading to rumors of a reunion.

Hubbard caught up with Entertainment Tonight’s Cassie DiLaura on the red carpet at the 61st Academy of Country Music Awards on Sunday evening (May 17).The show took place at the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada. DiLaura pointed out that many fans have expressed eagerness for an FGL reunion after Hubbard and Kelley shared photos with one another on social media. She asked Hubbard, “what does this mean?”

“Yeah, one photo and the world thinks you’re back on tour automatically,” the Georgia-born country star replied. “No, to be honest, we’ve had a blast. It’s been a really fun season of healing, like you said, and we’ve been hanging out, laughing, cutting up, goofing around, and it just feels like the old days. And so, for us, we’re just trying to soak it up, make the most of it, not rush anything, be really smart about it. But we have been toying around and flirting with the idea of playing a handful of shows next year. And so, that gets us both excited. But right now, we’re like I said, trying to be patient with it. Trying to enjoy this ‘honeymoon phase,’ if you will. And we’re all just — I’m literally leaving from Vegas and flying to the beach to go hang out with him and his wife, me and my wife. …We’re just enjoying this time together.

Hubbard said there’s “no new FGL music” on the way at this time; however, he’s been “too busy working on my solo stuff at the moment.” Hubbard’s newest song, “Land,” is due to arrive on Friday (May 22). He’s also looking ahead to performance dates, including on Dan + Shay’s fall headlining tour. And Hubbard isn’t opposed to sharing the stage with Kelley again. He told DiLaura, “the idea of playing shows together sounds like a lot of fun. And we’re just trying to keep it low stress, and nothing but a good time.

“I think for the world to get to experience a little taste of the emotion and the healing that we’ve gotten to feel,” Hubbard said. “It’s really special, and it’s bigger than just us. It’s bigger than just the music. And it’s actually a story and a powerful testimony to grace and forgiveness and healing, and all those things. And so, we’re leaning into t hat and excited for — it feels like the world is feeling what we’re feeling, and it feels good.”
