Positive messages like “Even though things are difficult, your life matters; you’re a shining light in a dark world, so just hold on,” that were left on a bridge in the UK have helped save six lives, police report. Paige Hunter,18, has tied over 40 notes to Sunderland’s Wearmouth Bridge and they’re helping those in crisis.
Sarah Pitt with the Northumbria Police Department calls the notes an “innovative way to reach those in a dark place.” She says the teen has shown an incredible understanding of vulnerable people in need of support. Hunter says putting up the encouraging notes was just something she wanted to do.
The college student has been given a commendation certificate from the police for her efforts. “For somebody so young, Paige has shown a real maturity and we thought it would only be right to thank her personally,” Pitt explains. “She should be very proud of herself.”
