A man who was on the tracks as an oncoming commuter train approached was saved by a New Jersey police officer seconds before being struck. Body camera video shows Perth Amboy Patrolman Kyle Savoia running along the tracks, shouting “Stop the train!”
Savoia was called to check on the man’s condition because he was lying on the tracks near the station. When he saw the train coming, he raced towards the unnamed man to save him. The body cam footage shows his life-saving actions, but Savoia feels its just part of his duty.
“As police officers, our job is to make quick decisions in difficult situations and to act on them," Savoia says. "At the end of the day, all that matters is everyone gets home safe. Also at such an early stage of my career, to be able to make an impactful difference in a person’s life is incredible and makes me love what I do every day."
