Weight Watchers Opens First Cafe

I recently told you about Weight Watchers changing its official name to WW, so they’re focused more on wellness than weight loss these days. And now they’re opening the first-ever cafe selling Weight Watchers-approved foods with a menu curated by Iron Chef’s Cat Cora.

The WW Freestyle Cafe: BKLYN is now open at the Barclays Center, where the Brooklyn Nets and New York Islanders play. It features a Mediterranean-inspired menu and it’s affordable, with the highest priced item at $13. The cafe will offer selections including a Mediterranean Buddha bowl, sesame lamb meatballs, a skewer bowl, and baked jalapeño poppers.

So why open the cafe at Barclays? A WW rep says the complex has the second largest ticket base in the country and the fifth largest in the world. The center hosts lots of sporting competitions, concerts, and family events, which gives kids the chance to adopt the same healthy eating habits as their folks, which is important to WW and chef Cora.
