Mother’s Day is only a couple weeks away…and if you really want to show the mom (or moms) in your life how much you appreciate her/them, give her/them the most wanted gift ever: to spend time with you…without your phone. According to a recent survey of adults from restaurant reservation app OpenTable, 40% of folks admit they were asked by their moms to stop using their phones while eating out together. And now OpenTable is giving you an incentive to do just that with their new #DiningMode campaign.
"We recently discovered that 85% of diners check their phones at the table while eating with others at least once," explains Caroline Potter, chief dining officer at OpenTable. "By going into #DiningMode this Mother's Day, diners will have the opportunity to focus their attention on the mom in their lives and connect over a fabulous meal."
The idea is to get people to turn off their phones and devices on Mother’s Day so they can be present and really enjoy being with their loved ones. OpenTable is partnering with over 500 restaurants for the campaign and they’ll be offering freebies as incentives to unplug on Mother’s Day (May 12th). We’re talking free champagne to those who opt in to #DiningMode, or even free dessert or margaritas, all for doing right by mom and not checking your phone during the meal.
