At the recent D23 Expo, the bi-annual event from The Official Disney Fan Club, Disney execs revealed details about upcoming movies, the new Disney+ streaming service and they made the announcement that Disney World is getting its own Cirque du Soleil show.
The yet-to-be-named show is coming to Disney Springs, a shopping area near all the resorts and theme parks in Orlando, and it’s a collaboration between Cirque du Soleil, Walt Disney Animation Studios and Walt Disney Imagineering. The Cirque shows are known for their impressive dances, stunts, and acrobatics set to music and they’re pretty magical, so it’s a perfect fit for Disney.
Back in 1998, Disney and Cirque teamed up for a show, so it’s about time for another one. The new show will have an animation theme and Chairman of Disney Parks, Experiences and Products Bob Chapek says it will “bring timeless, enchanting Disney stories to life in an unforgettable new way.”
Tickets are already on sale for the show, which will start previews in March 2020 and opens in April.
