Selena Gomez To Produce, Star In Horror Thriller 'Dollhouse'

Selena Gomez is set to produce the upcoming horror film, Dollhouse, for STXfilms.

Per PEOPLE, the pop titan is developing the film via her production company, July Moon Productions, along with 21 Laps’ Shawn Levy and Dan Cohen, who will also produce. A director for the film has yet be announced. Gomez also has her eyes on possibly starring in the film, which will revolve around New York City's fashion scene. Meanwhile, Deadline reported that the film is comparable to Natalie Portman's 2010 psychological thriller, Black Swan.

"Selena's involvement is an exciting direction for this project. She is supremely talented as both a star and a producer," Adam Fogelson, chairman for STXfilms motion picture group, said in a statement. Gomez has previously served as an executive producer on Netflix's 13 Reasons Why and the docuseries Living Undocumented. She is currently starring and producing HBO Max's Selena + Chef.

Most recently, Gomez spoke about her mental health struggles for World Mental Health Day, admitting that she went into a bit of a depression at the top of quarantine. “In the beginning, I couldn't deal with it [quarantine] that well. I kind of went into a bit of a depression,” she confessed. “And then I started going into a place where I was really writing and being active. And then I guess it just forced me to have that time. I’ve been able to spend time with those quality people a lot more than I ever have. And spending a lot more time with my family, and I almost feel like I’ve become normalized in this situation that’s not normal.
