Kelly Clarkson delivered a stunning rendition of a ballad that Reba McEntire released more than three decades ago. Clarkson’s cover took place on The Kelly Clarkson Show this week.

“I love that song,” Clarkson said as the crowd cheered. “Her [McEntire’s] whole catalog. That was ‘You Lie,’ Reba’s first single from her seventeenth album and her thirteenth No. 1 country single. She has the most amazing catalog ever. That was all the way back in 1990. Now she has up to 25 No. 1s, which feels like a fake number to those of us who are nowhere near that number. I was like, ‘cool.’”

“You Lie” was one of 10 tracks to appear on McEntire’s 1990 studio album, Rumor Has It, which also included the title track, “Fancy,” and more. The beloved country megastar, now mentoring up-and-coming artists as a coach on The Voice, is known for tons of hits spanning her decades-long career. Some of McEntire’s most well-known songs include “The Night The Lights Went Out In Georgia,” “Does He Love You” with Linda Davis, “Walk On,” “Is There Life Out There,” and “I’m A Survivor,” which served as the theme song to her early 2000s sitcom. McEntire also recorded and recently released the theme song to her newly-premiered comedy, Happy’s Place.

Clarkson has previously covered some of McEntire’s music, in addition to songs by Kelsea Ballerini, Miranda Lambert, Carrie Underwood, Shania Twain, The Judds, Lainey Wilson, Keith Urban, Bailey Zimmerman, Jelly Roll and many more. Watch Clarkson perform McEntire’s “You Lie” here:
