Country music star Nate Smith will headline the opening day of the New York State Fair on Wednesday, August 20, at Suburban Park in Syracuse. The performance, scheduled for 8 p.m., marks the start of the fair's 13-day run and its music series, which promises a diverse lineup of artists.
Smith, a California native, has gained significant recognition in the country music scene. He was named the Academy of Country Music's New Male Artist of the Year, Billboard's Rookie of the Year, and Amazon's Breakthrough Country Artist in 2024. His self-titled, gold-certified album debuted in the Top 10 on Billboard's Country Album chart and features hits like "Whiskey On You" and "World On Fire," both of which reached No. 1 on the charts. Smith's achievements include over 2.2 billion career streams and multiple gold and platinum records.
The New York State Fair, known for showcasing the best of New York agriculture and entertainment, offers all concerts, including Smith's, at no extra cost beyond fair admission. Tickets for the fair will be available later this summer, with adult admission priced at $8, while children under 12 and seniors aged 65 and older can enter for free. The fair runs through Labor Day, September 1, featuring 41 national recording acts as part of the Chevrolet Music Series.
