Blake Shelton poked fun at fellow country star Luke Bryan on Wednesday (June 18).
Shelton, who is celebrating his 49th birthday, wrote in a post on X, formerly Twitter: “Thank you all for my happy birthday wishes! I love yall! I’m kinda bummed though. [Luke Bryan] is the only one of my friends that hasn’t reached out to me today. He’ll probably only do it now after he sees this.”
Bryan has not responded to the post as of publication time. Shelton said in a follow-up post: “Thanks again everybody. I still haven’t heard from Luke.. He’s probably just busy today.”
The two country artists have previously shared hilarious exchanges with one another on social media. Earlier this year, Bryan said he was mistaken for Shelton in public. The Mind Of A Country Boy star said a man at a gas station told him, “‘you look just like Blake Shelton. You’re not Blake Shelton, are you?’ And I said, ‘I’m not Blake Shelton.’ He goes, ‘you gotta get that all the time. …you’re his doppelgänger.’”
Shelton responded by recapping Bryan’s story on TikTok, and cutting to Shelton flushing a toilet. He moved the camera to focus on an air freshener made to resemble Bryan, and wrote in his caption, “it costs a lot to smell this good….” He set the TikTok to “Rich Girl,” the 2004 single by his wife, Gwen Stefani. One commenter said at the time, “I have never laughed this hard in my life.”
Stefani shared a heartfelt birthday tribute to Shelton on Wednesday morning, set to the couple’s 2019 duet, “Nobody But You.” She wrote in her caption, “happy birthday to my greatest love [Blake Shelton] u are my everything!! ❤️❤️”
