“People” magazine has unveiled their 2020 “People of the Year.” This year’s honorees are George Clooney, Dr. Anthony Fauci, Selena Gomez and Regina King.
The four are being celebrated for their positive impact on the world during this unexpectedly tough year.
- Clooney donated $500K to the Equal Justice Initiative in the wake of George Floyd’s death, plus $1-million for COVID-19 relief efforts in Italy, London and Los Angeles.
- As the country’s top infectious disease expert, Fauci provided steady guidance during the pandemic.
- Gomez spread a message of inclusion through her makeup brand Rare Beauty on the heels of her new album “Rare,” setting a goal to raise $100-million in 10 years to help provide people with access to mental health initiatives.
- Emmy-winner King used her platform to encourage people to vote, and to show support for marginalized communities amid police brutality protests.
“We’re going to get more scraped knuckles and skinned knees. But after those wounds heal, we’ll have the beauty in the bruises,” King said. “We can put aside our differences to accomplish things."
